Chink-Paint Application Instructions
(Printer Friendly Version Here)
Using Chink-Paint is often helpful in giving a “face-lift” to log homes. In the past when applying maintenance coats of stain (which can discolor synthetic chinking), it was necessary to mask off the chink joint or do a tedious brush application of the stain. Now, using Chink-Paint, you can spray apply any LIFELINE stain over chinking, log and all. After the stain has dried you can then go back and brush apply the Chink-Paint to the joints -- a real labor and time saver.
Application Tips
- Chink-Paint should be thoroughly stirred before use and occasionally during use.
- Use a synthetic bristle brush slightly smaller than the joint size to be painted. Cut the bristles to about 1½ to 2 inches long.
- Use a piece of cardboard or stiff paper to protect stained logs as you paint the chinking.
Application Instructions
The substrate should be clean, free of oils or water repellents and completely dry before application. Any dirt or discolorations should be removed with Wood ReNew or a solution of Log Wash™. Thoroughly rinse and allow to dry before applying Chink-Paint.
Do not apply when the temperature is below 40° F or above 90° F. Apply the Chink-Paint with a short bristled brush being sure to cover all of the underlying chinking. Any spills, drips or runs should be cleaned up immediately with soap and water or a wet cloth.
