Eazy Strip Instructions
(Printer Friendly Version Here)
EAZY STRIP Professional Finish Remover is an environmentally friendly,
water-based solvent that removes most oil and water based stains and topcoats.
EAZY STRIP contains no harsh chemicals, is biodegradable and non-flammable and,
unlike caustic strippers, EAZY STRIP will not darken nor discolor the wood.
Application Tips
- After-Blast may be used on both interior and exterior media blasted surfaces.
- Make sure the surface is clean and dry before applying.
- Use only Lifeline brand water-based stains over After-Blast.
Directions for Use
COVERAGE RATE: Always test a small section before using EAZY
STRIP on the entire wall. Use a scraper to see if the finish has softened enough
to remove. In order for EAZY STRIP to work, coverage should not exceed 50 square
feet per gallon. It must be applied in a thick layer. EAZY STRIP can be used on
a variety of surfaces including wood, plaster, concrete, stone, metal and
fiberglass. Do not use EAZY STRIP on sheetrock, plastic, rubber or linoleum
surfaces. Caution: prolonged contact with EAZY STRIP will soften synthetic
chinking, caulks and sealants. While pressure washing, avoid applying high
pressure directly on any sealants.
EQUIPMENT: Safety equipment, bucket, brush or roller, paint
scraper, rags, and a pressure washer capable of generating at least 500 to 600
psi. For the most efficient removal of the finish, use a pressure washer with an
output of three gallons per minute or greater and a 15 degree fan tip nozzle.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
STIR WELL BEFORE USE. EAZY STRIP works best when applied at temperatures between
60°F and 80°F and try to avoid working in direct hot sunlight. Work on small
sections (50 square feet or so) at a time. Apply a layer of EAZY STRIP at least
1/8” thick to finished surfaces using a brush or roller with a ½” nap. When
removing a finish from a wall, start at the bottom of the wall and work your way
up. Allow the EAZY STRIP to remain on the surface for at least 30 to 60 minutes.
The removal of multiple coats of stain or some types of finishes may require
longer contact time, especially in cooler weather. It is acceptable if EAZY
STRIP forms a surface crust but if the temperature is above 90°F or if the wall
is in direct sunlight, a light misting with water will help keep it active.
Performance varies with weather conditions.
Once the finish has softened, remove it with a pressure washer. If EAZY STRIP
has been on a wall for over 30 minutes, be careful not to apply too much
pressure to chinking or sealants. On walls, pressure wash starting at the top of
the area and work your way down. If there are areas where pressure washing has
not removed all of the finish, try scraping off the remaining finish with a
paint scraper or stiff nylon bristle brush while the finish is still soft.
Protected areas under porch roofs, soffits, etc. may occasionally require a
second application to remove all of the finish.
Once the finish removal process is completed, be sure to thoroughly rinse the
surface in order to remove any EAZY STRIP residue and return the wood to its
proper pH balance.
CLEAN UP
Use soap and water to clean tools and equipment.
STORAGE
Store Eazy Strip out of direct sunlight and protect from freezing. Although Eazy
Strip is freeze-thaw stable, if the product is accidentally frozen, allow to
thaw and check for suitability of use before applying.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Wear a long
sleeved shirt, rubber gloves and eye protection during use. If exposed, flush
eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and wash skin with soap and
water. If spraying, use a NIOSH approved chemical cartridge (organic vapor)
respirator. Rinse down plants, shrubs and grass with water if Eazy Strip comes
in contact with them.
