Oxcon Instructions
(Printer Friendly Version Here)
OXcon is an easy to use blonding agent designed to brighten up wood surfaces
of both exterior and interior logs, deck boards, railings and fences. This
powerful blonding agent works to return gray weathered wood to its natural
golden color prior to using water-resistant finishes or semi-transparent stains.
OXcon contains oxalic acid that works to revive your woodwork, giving the wood a
fresh, natural look.
OXcon is especially recommended after the use of some chemical strippers.
Remember to rinse thoroughly between applications and read and follow the
directions for use.
Application Tips
- Always mix with water before use.
- Do not treat small areas. To avoid splotches and streaks, use OXcon on
the entire wall.
- Use pH Strips to make sure the surface is adequately rinsed.
Directions for Use
Surface Preparation: Brush or wipe off any extraneous debris
that may be present. OXcon should only be applied to clean, bare wood surfaces.
Mixing: Dilute one (1) part OXcon with four (4) parts water in
a clean plastic container. Do not use a metal container! OXcon must be properly
diluted since higher concentrations can damage the wood surface. Mix thoroughly
before using and periodically during use.
Application: OXcon may be applied with a low pressure sprayer,
roller, brush, or broom. Use liberal amounts (a flooding coat) over an entire
area. Do not spot-treat since this method of application can cause blotching.
Allow the solution to remain on the surface for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse
thoroughly with lots of fresh water starting at the top of the wall and working
your way down. Allow the surface to dry, then look at the results. If the wood
is still too dark or blotchy, repeat the procedure.
CAUTION
Keep out of reach of children. Wear protective breathing gear, rubber gloves,
and eye protection. Make certain the work area is well ventilated. Do not
breathe fumes and keep away from heat that could produce fumes. If exposed,
promptly flush eyes with water and wash skin with soap and water. Cover plants,
shrubs, aluminum frames, etc. before use.
